Ali & Akhilesh’s Wedding at Aurika, Udaipur

Ali and Akhilesh’s wedding was not just a celebration of love, but a story of resilience, spontaneity, and the kind of magic that only unfolds when emotions, planning, and unpredictability come together.

Teenage sweethearts who had known each other for years, Ali and Akhilesh shared a bond that felt effortless yet deeply rooted. When it came to their wedding, they envisioned something equally meaningful, an experience that reflected both their personalities and their journey together. They chose Aurika, Udaipur, as their venue, setting the tone for a celebration that would blend elegance with warmth.

From the very beginning, they were deeply involved in every detail. Décor wasn’t just about aesthetics for them, it was personal. Every element, every corner, every little detail was thoughtfully discussed and curated. They wanted their wedding to be a beautiful blend of traditions, seamlessly weaving together different rituals in a way that felt uniquely theirs. From a classic white wedding to a baraat with a twist, where the groom arrived in a tuxedo on a horse, their celebration was full of unexpected, delightful contrasts.

And then came the unimaginable.
Just a day before the celebrations began, the venues for the first two events had to be switched. With February weather in Udaipur being so unpredictable, last-minute changes became inevitable. What had been planned meticulously for almost a year – layouts, flow, design, experiences, had to be reimagined instantly. But as wedding planners, we’ve learned that the true test lies in moments like these. Within an hour, new layouts were created, spaces were redesigned, and everything was adapted to not just fit, but to feel right. And somehow, by the end of it, it all looked like it was always meant to be that way.

Because sometimes, the best weddings aren’t the ones that go exactly as planned, but the ones that unfold exactly as they’re meant to.

Day 1: Check-ins & Welcome Evening

The first day began with guest check-ins, an essential yet often overlooked part of the wedding experience. As guests arrived, there was a sense of excitement in the air. Warm welcomes, smooth coordination, and a seamless flow ensured that everyone settled in comfortably, ready to immerse themselves in the celebrations ahead.

Before the evening festivities began, there was a wedding rehearsal where everyone who was going to be a part of the ceremony came together. From walk-ins to positioning and flow, each element was practiced to ensure that the main wedding ceremony would be seamless and well-coordinated. It also became a moment of bonding, where families and friends got a preview of what was to come, building excitement for the big day.

As the evening unfolded, the welcome reception set the tone beautifully. It was intimate, relaxed, and filled with laughter. Guests mingled effortlessly, old friends reunited, new connections formed, and conversations flowed as easily as the music in the background.

The evening featured heartfelt speeches that added a personal touch, making everyone feel even more connected to Ali and Akhilesh’s journey. A live duo band set the mood for the night, creating a relaxed and engaging atmosphere.

Adding to the magic was a surprise family flash mob, an unexpected and heartfelt performance by everyone present. The couple was overwhelmed with joy and emotion, making it a truly memorable start to the celebrations.

Day 2: Haldi, Mehndi, Indian Bazaar & Sangeet Night

After a beautiful start the previous evening, Day 2 brought with it a vibrant burst of energy. It was, without a doubt, one of the most anticipated and lively days of the wedding.

The morning began with the Haldi ceremony, an explosion of color, laughter, and playful chaos. Friends and family gathered around the couple, applying haldi with love (and a little mischief), turning the ceremony into a joyful celebration. It was raw, unfiltered happiness, the kind that brings everyone closer and sets the tone for the rest of the day.

As the day progressed, the venue transformed into a lively Indian Bazaar, an experience that was as immersive as it was entertaining.

The bazaar featured an array of thoughtfully curated stalls, each adding its own charm and character. There was a ring toss game bringing out everyone’s competitive side, parrot reader adding a touch of curiosity and tradition, and fun gun shooting stall that guests couldn’t get enough of. Art lovers found themselves drawn to miniature painting stations and caricature artists who turned moments into keepsakes, while hand block printing gave guests a chance to create something of their own.

These weren’t just activities, they were experiences, carefully designed to reflect the vibrancy and diversity of Indian culture, all coming together in one lively – colorful setting.
Alongside this, mehndi artists were busy creating intricate designs, as guests sat back, relaxed, and soaked in the festive atmosphere.

The energy of the afternoon seamlessly transitioned into an even more dynamic celebration with a live Kalaakaar band that had everyone on their feet. Music filled the air, and soon, the dance floor was alive.

And then came a moment that truly stood out.

Dandiya.

For many guests, this was something completely new. But what could have been unfamiliar quickly turned into one of the most memorable highlights of the day. With the help of a choreographer, who had already been working with the group for sangeet performances, live choreography for dandiya was introduced right there. In just a few minutes, guests were taught the steps and formations in real time.

What followed was incredible.

Within moments, everyone was dancing in sync, completely immersed in the rhythm and energy. It was spontaneous, joyful, and absolutely electric. The transformation, from hesitation to complete confidence, was something to witness, and it became one of the defining moments of the celebration.

Amidst all the festivities, another beloved tradition took place, the Joota Churaayi ceremony. For those unfamiliar, Joota churaayi is a playful wedding ritual where the bride’s side steals the groom’s shoes during the ceremony and demands a ransom in return. It’s all in good spirit, filled with banter, laughter, and a little bit of drama.

Even guests who didn’t fully understand the tradition found themselves completely engaged. The excitement, the negotiations, the laughter, it was infectious. Everyone became a part of it, proving once again that weddings are not just about rituals, but about shared joy.

As the evening set in, it was time for the Sangeet, one of the most awaited celebrations of the wedding.

The night began with beautifully choreographed performances by friends and family. Each act told a story of memories, relationships, inside jokes, and love. From high-energy group dances to emotional performances that left a few teary eyes in the crowd, every moment felt personal and heartfelt.

Once the performances wrapped up, the formalities gave way to a full-blown celebration as the dance floor opened up. What followed was pure madness, in the best way possible. Everyone let loose, danced like nobody was watching, and celebrated the couple with unmatched energy.

And just when you thought the night had peaked, it transitioned into something even more fun, Karaoke night.

The vibe shifted from performances to participation. Guests grabbed the mic, sang their hearts out, cheered for each other, and turned the evening into a collective celebration. It was raw, unfiltered, and incredibly entertaining, where it didn’t matter how well you sang, but how much fun you had.

By the end of Day 2, it felt like every guest had not just attended the wedding, but truly lived it. From traditions to performances, from structured moments to spontaneous joy, it was a day that had it all, and more.

Day 3: An English Wedding with the Baraat and Indo-Western Reception Dinner

And here comes the most awaited day – the wedding day.

The day everyone had been waiting for. The day that brought together not just two people, but years of love, memories, and a promise of forever. It was all about witnessing Ali & Akhilesh step into their happily ever after.

What made this day truly special was how beautifully it blended traditions.
A white wedding with a twist.

Before the elegance of the ceremony unfolded, there was the high-energy excitement of a baraat. The groom arrived in style, seated on a horse, but instead of traditional attire, he wore a sharp tuxedo, bringing together two worlds in the most unexpected yet seamless way. The baraat was filled with music, dancing, and pure celebration, setting the tone for everything that followed.

As the energy settled, it transitioned into the calm, dreamy setting of the white wedding. The décor reflected understated elegance, soft tones, floral details, and an atmosphere that felt straight out of a fairytale. Surrounded by their loved ones, Ali and Akhilesh exchanged vows in an intimate and heartfelt ceremony, marking the beginning of their forever.

Adding another beautiful layer to the celebration was the garland exchange – a symbolic moment rooted in Indian tradition, representing acceptance, love, and unity. It was the perfect bridge between cultures, making the ceremony feel even more personal and meaningful.

And then came a deeply significant ritual from Maharashtrian tradition – the Saptapadi, or the seven sacred steps.

As the groom comes from a Maharashtrian background, this ceremony was an important part of the wedding. During Saptapadi, the couple takes seven steps together, each step representing a vow and a promise they make to one another ranging from companionship and strength to love, trust, and lifelong partnership. With each step, their bond deepens, symbolizing not just a union of two individuals, but a commitment to walk through life side by side, in every phase and every moment.

It added a beautiful depth to the ceremony bringing in culture, meaning, and a sense of sacredness that made the union even more profound.

It wasn’t just a wedding, it was a reflection of who they are. A perfect blend of modern and traditional, calm and celebratory, emotional and joyous.

As the sun set, the celebrations seamlessly flowed into the reception evening.
The reception was all about elegance, conversations, and celebration at a different pace. Guests arrived dressed in their finest, the atmosphere filled with warmth and sophistication. It was a time for heartfelt congratulations, group pictures, and moments of connection.

Ali and Akhilesh made their grand entry as a married couple, greeted with applause, cheers, and so much love. The evening carried a sense of joy and pride – families coming together, stories being shared, laughter echoing across the space.

There were heartfelt toasts and speeches that reflected on their journey from teenage sweethearts to life partners leaving everyone both smiling and emotional. As the night progressed, the dance floor opened once again, bringing back the energy in the most effortless way.

The reception wasn’t just an end to the celebrations, it was the perfect closing note. A night filled with love, gratitude, and the kind of happiness that lingers long after the music fades.

And just like that, a wedding that began with an unexpected twist turned into a story that felt perfectly meant to be – every moment, every emotion, exactly as it should have been.
