Wedding of Niharika & Travis
Where Stories Begin
Planning a destination wedding is like composing a love song – it’s not just about the big day, but every note in between. Each celebration, each color, each mood adds a new layer to the story you’re telling together. And when the destination is as soulful as Jaipur, the possibilities are endless.
This past September, as the city began to glow again after the rains, we had the joy of curating a five-event wedding at Sawai Man Mahal – a palace rooted in timeless Rajasthani grandeur. Every event was carefully crafted – rooted in tradition, yet imagined with softness, intention, and soul.
Behind the Scenes: When Plan B Became the Plan
With 18 months of planning behind this celebration and it being a September wedding we had already informed the couple and their families about the possibility of rain, and the need for a solid backup plan. As planners, having a Plan B isn’t optional, it’s instinctive. Because no matter how thoughtfully you prepare, weddings can always surprise you.
There hadn’t been a drop of rain in Jaipur before we arrived, and everything was moving as scheduled. But during our first dry run with the couple and their parents at the venue, the skies unexpectedly opened up. And in that moment, the direction was clear – we had to pivot, fast.
We immediately revisited the backup plan with the couple, shared the necessary adjustments, and had their full support & trust. That clarity allowed us to act quickly & with confidence.
From there, it was all hands on deck. We realigned with our team, redistributed responsibilities, and worked together to make sure the experience remained seamless. Every decision was made with care, keeping the couple’s comfort and joy at the center of it all.
What was originally envisioned as a fully outdoor celebration had to be moved indoors – almost overnight.
Thanks to early preparation, the transition was smooth. The hotel staff, logistic team, and all vendors had already been pre-informed of the possibility of this shift. That groundwork paid off. While the spaces changed, the mood and aesthetic stayed exactly as imagined.
We worked closely with the team to bring the same energy, detail, and experience to life – just in a different setting. And in the end, what we delivered truly reflected what had been promised.
There were other challenges too. The distance between venues, the ongoing rain, and the logistical pressure of transferring guests added layers of complexity. But with strong coordination, covered golf carts, and a dedicated on-ground team managing transitions, everything moved smoothly.
What held it all together was teamwork, presence of mind, and a shared commitment to giving the couple a day they’d never forget. And that’s exactly what happened.
The Events: Five Celebrations, One Seamless Story
From Jaipur’s iconic blue pottery to forests of light and a reception glowing in candlelight, this wedding was never about extravagance – it was about emotion.
Atmosphere over excess. Meaning over scale.
Here’s how the story unfolded, one celebration at a time:
Mehndi & Welcome
Mehndi for the guests was kept as a low key event but guests were warmly receive by Taj Sawai Man Mahal. The lunch was organized at the La Mesa restaurant focusing on Italian cuisine which is their speciality.
Sangeet – Enchanting Forest
Held indoors, the sangeet embraced the idea of a dream-like forest brought to life. The ambience felt rich, intimate, and layered – designed for an evening of music, movement, and soft celebration.
TIP: Don’t shy away from drama in your night events. Lighting can do wonders when paired with natural textures and moody tones.
Haldi – Greens & Marigolds
Rooted in tradition and simplicity, the haldi carried a palette of greens and marigolds. It was warm, bright, and joyful – an easy, heartfelt ceremony filled with quiet laughter and closeness.
TIP: Sometimes, all you need is a classic combination done right. Marigolds and greens will never go out of style.
Wedding – Pastel Love
The wedding ceremony was a study in soft elegance. With pastel hues as the palette – blush, peach, and ivory – the setup reflected calm, grace, and quiet romance. Everything felt serene, beautifully balanced, and true to the couple’s energy.
TIP: Let your color palette mirror your mood. Pastels are perfect for daytime weddings where softness and emotion speak louder than grandeur.
Reception – Mirrors & Candlelight
The celebrations ended on a glowing note. With a theme of mirrors and candlelight, the reception felt polished yet soft – marking the perfect close to a layered, love-filled journey.
TIP: Play with texture – mirrors, glass, and candlelight can elevate even the simplest spaces with quiet luxury.
Closing Note
This September wedding reminded us that a beautiful celebration isn’t about how much you do – but how intentionally you do it.
With Jaipur as the canvas and Taj Sawai Man Mahal as the backdrop, this wedding was a perfect blend of thoughtful design and heartfelt celebration. Every event felt distinct, but together, they told one seamless love story.
For couples dreaming of a destination wedding: choose themes that reflect you, moments that matter, and let your setting speak through your story.
